Collinte 870 Fleetwax is a cleaner-wax that can compound the gel coat and wax it in one application. Use Collinite 870 Fleetwax on gelcoats that require some cleaning, where topical stains and light oxidation need to be removed. Work Collinite FleetWax in like you would any cleaner, buy rubbing it into the surface more extensively than you would a typical wax. Let Collinite 870 dry on the surface and buff off like a wax. Collinite 870 is different from a product like Collinite 845 Insulator Wax or Collinite 925 Fiberglass Boat Wax as it contains a cleaner, the other two products do not. In some cases, some boat owners apply Collinite 845 or Collinite 925 after using Collinite 870 FleetWax on their boat. Collinite 870 is used by professional boat detailers nationwide because it's easy to use and lasts a long time. Another great and lesser known application on boats with Collinite 870 FleetWax is on the topsides. For the non-skid surface (diamond plate style patterned gel coat) apply Collinite 870 with a scrub brush on the non skid surface. Let dry and remove with a terry towel. You'll remove any surface oxidation, discoloration or stains on the non skid, but it won't be slippery from the wax. The application of Collinite 870 on the top side in that fashion will keep stains from sticking to the surface, so when you raise that white marlin the last thing you'll have to worry about is blood on the boat.
For oxidized (discolored) gelcoats, we recommend either Collinite 920 Fiberglass boat cleaner, or for more heavily oxidized ('chalking') gel coats, we suggest Presta Ultra Cutting Creme or a 600 grit compound Presta Super Cut Compound, which is an alternative to wet sanding.
