Collinite 845 Insulator wax can be used on most surfaces, as it does not contain any abrasives that will damage the surface. FOR AUTOMOBILES, Collinite 845 can be used on any clearcoat finish. It's highly recommended that you work Collinite 845 in small sections, starting with a quarter panel, and letting it start to dry, then remove. Collinite 845 Insulator Wax is extremely difficult to remove if it completely dries on the surface. Also, dont' use the product if the surface is exposed to direct sunlight, as Collinite 845 will dry very quickly on those exposed surfaces and again, will be very difficult to remove. FOR BOATS, Collinite 845 is the champ. It's durable, and will protect your gelcoat for the entire season. Much has been written about Collinite's Insulator Wax in marine magazines, and for good reason, Collinite 845 is known throughout the industry as a very durable wax that's relatively easy to work with. It's important to remember with gelcoats to apply Collinite 845 on a clean surface. So if there's any oxidation, discoloration or surface imperfections, it's best to use a compound like Collinite 920 Fiberglass Boat Cleaner on the gel coat prior to applying Collinite 845. This is especially important with regards to oxidation on your gelcoat, for if you apply Collinite 845 to an oxidized gel coat, the oxidation may seem to disappear during the application, only to 'bleed through' after the wax wears down. Collinite 845 can also be applied to any non-porous surface, like finished wood, marble, shower stalls, fixtures, etc. It's important to remember that Collinite 845 dries white, so any remaining Insulator Wax that's left on a surface (for instance left in cracks or pores) will show up very white. In that case, to remove Collinite 845, you'll need to use a heavy duty cleaner.
